I paint what the sea remembers
Hello, I’m Lourdes Garcia — a Spanish contemporary painter born in Valencia, living between Barcelona, Lisbon and Mexico City. My work is an archive of light: layers of lime wash, iron oxide, indigo and ash that hold sunsets, droughts, migrations and lullabies.
For 18 years I have worked in large format — 2 to 5 meters — because the body must enter the painting. Collectors describe my canvases as “quiet cathedrals” and “warm minimalism”. I mix my own pigments from Mediterranean earth, collaborate with architects and interior studios, and teach intuitive color twice a year.
Education — Facultad de Bellas Artes, Valencia + MA in Lisbon
Classical drawing, fresco restoration, contemporary theory. Thesis on female colorists: Frankenthaler, Anni Albers, Remedios Varo.
Material research — earth, salt, ash
Own recipe: lime + marble dust + linseed + natural oxides. No acrylics. Paintings breathe and age like walls in Ibiza.
Mission — art for calm spaces
80% of works go to homes, boutique hotels and wellness clinics. Art that lowers heart rate, not raises voice.
Philosophy
Less ego, more earth. I erase more than I add. Each painting has 30-70 translucent veils.

Every commission starts with your light, your wall, your story. No two paintings are alike, but the ritual is always the same.
Listening
30-min video call + photos of your space. We define palette, size, emotion: calm, joy, grounding?
Earth studies
I send 3 small A3 studies on linen + pigment samples. You choose direction, we refine.
Layering
4-6 weeks of veils, drying, sanding. You receive weekly studio videos. 100% hand-made.
